17 Chinese language arrested for unlawful mining in Osun

 

Seventeen Chinese language nationals, 9 Nigerians have been arrested by the Osun State Joint Process Power (JTF) for unlawful mining within the state.

Talking on the event, the Deputy Chief of Workers to the State Governor, Abdullahi Binuyo, mentioned the unlawful miners had been arrested following a coordinated sting operation across the Ilesa and Ife axis of the state.

He defined that the unlawful miners had polluted the Osun River with toxic metals, thereby making it unsafe for human consumption and irrigation.

“No responsible government will not fold its arms and watch its land being degraded by unauthorised persons”.

He added that other than making certain that these arrested are prosecuted, they can even be made to pay compensations.

One of many Chinese language suspects arrested, Might Zam, mentioned she was not conscious they had been engaged in unlawful mining.

She mentioned she labored for various firms and believed they need to have mining licenses.

She added that the present firm she works for which she failed to call has a Nigerian sponsor.
