The boat on the Watari dam was carrying roughly 40 students from an Islamic college, most of whom have been below 18, and capsized round 5:30 native time Tuesday night, a neighborhood authorities official stated.
Kano state hearth service spokesperson Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi stated rescuers had recovered 29 lifeless our bodies.
“What we know is that the boat was overloaded,” Abdullahi stated.
Local authorities official Aminu Bello Gogori stated seven students had been rescued and have been receiving hospital remedy.
Two locals, Umar Shuaibu and Tanko Isa, stated that whereas there have been some adults on the boat, most have been below 18, with some as younger as 6 years previous. They stated all seven rescued have been youngsters.
