Buhari Sets Up Committee To ‘Study’ US Travel Ban

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday established a committee to “study and address” the current US visa ban on Nigerians.

The committee might be chaired by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

On Friday, the US’ Department of Homeland Security (DHS) introduced short-term journey restrictions on six nations, together with Nigeria.

The restriction will have an effect on the issuance of US “immigrant visas” to Nigerian passport holders from February 21, 2020.

The suspension doesn’t apply to different U.S visas akin to these for official, enterprise, tourism and pupil journey.

The DHS said that the suspension of “immigrant visas” turned obligatory as a result of safety considerations associated to info sharing between Nigeria and the US.

However, in an announcement launched by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the federal authorities mentioned Nigeria stays “committed” to its relationship with the Americans.
