Nollywood Actor, Gideon Okeke has taken to his social media web page to vent in opposition to the ill-treatment of Actors within the Nigerian film business.
According to the thespian, he’s been feeling pissed off and he questioned the usefulness of the actor’s guild in Nigeria.
His IG submit reads ;
Why is it proper for Actors to not obtain royalties and residuals for his or her life’s work in Nigeria.
Is it as a result of it says so within the contract ?
Is there actually at all times a contract ?
What the heck does the guild stand for actually ?
He continued by way of the caption ;
I’ve actually begun to really feel pissed off on this CRAFT that I love a lot. Remember that throughout the occasions of COVID lockdown, ONLY people working in “essential services” have been allowed to come out. Doctors, Nurses, Farmers and so on and so on.
Let me remind you that whilst you have been holed-up in your house for upwards of 4 months, watching Television, The ACTOR participated actively, in holding your sanity in test. That’s An Essential Service when you ask Me.
But for All that the ACTOR does (for society) all that accrues to him on the finish of the day, is the upfront fee which he accepted. Which most of the time, comes at a Piecemeal drop, masking for a length of A Lifetime….For Life!
