INEC Chairman Resumes Office After Second Term Appointment

Professor Mahmood Yakubu has resumed because the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a second time period.

His resumption comes after his appointment was confirmed by the Senate and was on Wednesday sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier than the graduation of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) assembly.

His appointment and affirmation make him the primary chairman of the fee to run a second time period in workplace since 1999.

The Acting Chairman, Air Vice-Marshal Muazu, dealt with the affairs of the fee for a month whereas Professor Mahmood was ready for his affirmation.

During the handover on Thursday, the performing chairman of the fee gave an account of the current bye-elections which he supervised.

He stated that the workouts had been performed regardless of some challenges such because the lack of six cops in Bayelsa State and insecurity that affected Zamfara and Borno States.

He described his tenure because the longest he has skilled within the fee.

Professor Yakubu in his remarks acknowledged the efforts put in by the performing chairman.

He famous that the electoral act is a high precedence and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has given an assurance that the invoice can be handed.

The just-concluded bye-elections had been performed in 11 states and 15 constituencies.
