INEC Publishes Credentials Of By-Election Candidates In Four States

The Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) has launched the credentials of the candidates collaborating within the forthcoming by-elections in 4 states.

INEC’s Nationwide Commissioner and Chairman of Info and Voter Training Committee, Festus Okoye, introduced this in an announcement on Saturday.

This comes two weeks forward of the March 14 by-elections to be performed in Niger, Kwara, Sokoto, and Jigawa States.

The by-elections are for Magama/Rijau (Niger) and Babura/Garki (Jigawa) federal constituencies, in addition to Patigi (Kwara) and Kebbe (Sokoto) state constituencies.

A complete of 10 political events are anticipated to take part within the election.

The events, in accordance with INEC, are Accord, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Motion Democratic Celebration (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), All Individuals’s Celebration (APP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP), African Motion Congress (AAC), Allied Peoples Motion (APM), and New Nigeria Peoples Celebration (NNPP).

With the publication of the credentials INEC is urging any particular person or group that has causes to problem the credibility of the submitted paperwork to take action.

“The commission wishes to draw attention to the provision of Section 31(5) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) which entitles “any person who has reasonable grounds to believe that any information given by a candidate in the affidavit or any document submitted by that candidate is false to file a suit at the Federal High Court, High Court of a state or FCT against such person seeking a declaration that the information contained I the affidavit is false,” stated Okoye.

In response to him, the fee is decided to conduct free and truthful elections in accordance with extant legal guidelines whereas working with important stakeholders to make sure the peaceable conduct of the train.

The nationwide commissioner additionally appealed to all eligible voters within the respective constituencies to exit and train their franchise on the day of the elections.
