Some offended protesters suspected to be loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday attacked the Peoples Democratic Occasion (PDP) secretariat in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, destroying properties.
The assault follows the issuance of Certificates of Return to Senator Douye Diri of the PDP by the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) in Abuja, on Friday.
Diri was issued the certificates of return following the Supreme Courtroom ruling which sacked APC candidate, David Lyon as Bayelsa State governor-elect.

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu advised journalists throughout a briefing in Abuja that Diri was declared the winner of the November 2019 election after high INEC officers met to overview the outcomes of the election, with out the votes of the APC which have been voided by the court docket.
“The entire votes solid after excluding these of the APC now stand at 146,999. PDP polled 143,172 and scored 25 % as required by the legislation,” Yakubu mentioned throughout the briefing.
