Three members of an notorious syndicate that specialised in snatching of vehicles have been apprehended by police operatives on Wednesday December 2, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The nabbed suspects confessed that they snatch vehicles in Calabar and promote them in Uyo. According to them, the vehicles stolen in Uyo are offered in Calabar.
It was revealed that the suspects had to date snatched 4 vehicles in Uyo however they ran out of luck on Wedneday, December 2, once they dispossessed a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ekefre, of his car at Richway Supermarket.
Narrating his ordeal, Rev. Fr. Ekefre, a youthful brother to Ubong Ekefre, a former Transition Committee Chairman in Mkpat Enin, revealed he was at a grocery store to buy with a feminine relative when one of the robbers approached him and pretended to be drawing his consideration to somebody behind.
When he turned, the robber dragged his hand behind, pointed a metallic object to his head and requested him at hand over the important thing, whereas the opposite suspect approached him pulling out a jackknife.
In response, the priest pulled off his hand and flung the car key in direction of his feminine relative. The criminals attacked the girl, gave her a reduce on the pinnacle, snatched the important thing and drove off with the car. Fortunately, the reduce was not deep as a result of of her hair extension.
The robbers took away the car with the priest’s cellular phone which was used to trace the car to a bush after Ikot Oku Ikono, the place the suspects had hidden it whereas apparently ready for the mud to settle.
